Visit With Environmental Health & Safety and UAPD at Making Your Day Work Carnival March 28

The Division of Finance and Administration invites university employees to attend the Making Your Day Work Carnival, scheduled for March 28. This unique event serves not only to showcase the various departments across campus who work to enhance the overall employee experience, but also to raise awareness among employees regarding the diverse and exceptional services offered by the university that may be overlooked in the hustle of daily routines.

This event offers an opportunity for staff and faculty to connect face-to-face with units they may have previously interacted with only virtually or over the phone. It will feature a "Family Feud" style game show with Chancellor Robinson; winners will receive lunch for their department. Attendees can visit the registration table upon arriving to collect a wristband and tickets to receive items at each booth. Snacks and small bites will be provided.

DEPARTMENT SPOTLIGHT: ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY

The Environmental Health & Safety office contains scientists, engineers, safety professionals and data analysts providing EHS support and services across campus. Services are focused on identifying and characterizing chemical, biological, radiological and physical hazards; recommending effective controls to address fire and occupational safety risks; and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Support areas include:

  • Indoor air quality assessment
  • Hazardous chemical management
  • Hazardous waste disposal
  • Fire and life safety system oversight
  • Workplace and laboratory safety audits
  • Risk and hazard mitigation assessments
  • Safety training

Employees are invited to learn more about the services that the Environmental Health & Safety team provides by visiting their booth at the carnival. Supervisors are encouraged to allow team members the flexibility to attend the carnival during working hours to foster a sense of connection across campus, celebrate the impactful work done by each unit and to develop their knowledge and relationships among the departments in attendance.

DEPARTMENT SPOTLIGHT: UAPD

The U of A Police Department is a certified law enforcement agency dedicated to serving and protecting Arkansas’ future. They are available 24/7/365 to support faculty, students and staff in the campus community. They are an important campus resource that works to make the university safer even during times when the campus population is gone.

Aside from what is expected of a law enforcement agency, UAPD also offers vehicle unlocks and vehicle jumps free of charge. They conduct security services for other U of A system campuses such as UAMS and the Division of Agriculture.

UAPD’s booth will feature a demonstration of the SafeZone Mobile Safety app. In the event of an emergency, the app allows users to quickly share their location and details for immediate assistance. UAPD’s K-9s will also be in attendance!

Employees are invited to learn more about the services that the Environmental Health & Safety and UAPD teams provide by visiting their booths at the carnival.
