This Weekend: Local Dancers and Choreographers to Showcase Work in 'Arkansas Moves' Production

Experience the talent and artistry of Arkansas performers brought to life in the University of Arkansas Theater, April 5-7.

The Movement Dance Company and University of Arkansas Department of Theater have a vision to demonstrate the rich artistic culture of dance and performance art right here in Arkansas. The Movement will be performing pieces by local choreographers Karen Castleman, Cece Marie, Rebecca Cannan, Lyle Oberman, and Michelle Muzzilo. 

The show will also feature guest artists from around Arkansas and surrounding areas: 

  • Ocean Wave Dance, a Northwest Arkansas-based dance initiative that focuses on exploration and education of various pacific island dances.
  • Arkansas Atrangi, a Bollywood fusion competitive dance team performing locally and nationally, sharing Indian dance culture while creating community.
  • Garrett McCarty, a Northwest Arkansas-born performance artist who has performed locally at The Walton Arts Center, The Medium, The Momentary, and numerous outreach opportunities with children shelters and schools. 
  • Dhirana Academy of Classical Dance, a local academy which strives to bridge the gap between society and Bharatanatyam by inspiring, educating, and guiding students across the region.

The showcase will be held in the University Theater, 340 Garland Ave., Fayetteville. 

Showtimes are:

  • Friday, April 5, 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 6, 7:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 7, 2 p.m.

Doors open 30 minutes before the show.

Tickets are free, but must be reserved through HogSync.
