Ugochi Isu, a Ph.D. candidate in chemistry from Mahmoud Moradi's lab, was chosen as one of the 23 graduate and postdoctoral students to join the prestigious Doctoral & Postdoctoral Fellowship at D.E. Shaw Research.

Held on April 4-5, at the D.E. Shaw Research offices in New York City, this fellowship united exceptional researchers who are using computational or theoretical methods to tackle vital scientific challenges in biophysics, chemistry, drug discovery, and related areas.

Ugochi Isu's doctoral research focuses on employing molecular dynamics simulation to characterize the role of chemo-mechanical couplings on the conformational dynamics of proteins. During the two-day symposium, she had the opportunity to participate in technical presentations by fellowship team members, engage in career development discussions, and network with peers. Ugochi and other fellows also showcased their ongoing research projects to DESRES team members and fellow attendees. As part of this fellowship, all participants received a stipend for their contributions, with D.E. Shaw Research covering travel and accommodation expenses in New York City.

D.E. Shaw Research is renowned for developing and employing cutting-edge computational technologies to understand the behavior of biologically and pharmaceutically significant molecules at an atomic level. Their proprietary supercomputer, Anton, is specifically designed to conduct molecular dynamics simulations more than 100 times faster than the world's fastest general-purpose supercomputers.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Ugochi Isu for her outstanding participation in the D.E. Shaw Research Doctoral & Postdoctoral Fellowship and wish her continued success in her research journey.
