The 40th annual Music Honors Recital held by the Department of Music will be at the Faulkner Performing Arts Center at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 14. Students across the department entered the competition in January for the chance to win prize money, and this recital will celebrate the winners and top competitors of the year.

Miroslava Panayotova, director of this year's Music Recital competition, says the level of skill increases every year, and now it's become a bragging right to have won or even placed in the event. "It's incredible to watch and hear these students perform every year. Every student in the Department of Music rises to the occasion, and the students are looking forward to performing for an enthusiastic audience."

First place went to junior Jillian Russell; second place went to graduate student Henry Sargent, and third place went to freshman Garland Watson. They, along with Ben Wheeler, Haley Evans, Ryan Montemayor, Erin Newberry, Tyler Trickey, Calista Maurer, Morgan Murphy, Mackenzie Schofield and Narcedalia Isabel Fuentes will take the stage Sunday to an audience of family, friends, university leaders, faculty and community supporters.
