11th Annual Nursing Research Conference Showcases Scholarship

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Nurses from Northwest Arkansas will gather for the 11th Annual Nursing Research Conference on April 5 at the Jones Center for Families, Springdale, for what organizers hope will be an exchange of ideas that stimulates innovation and future contributions to the profession.

The conference is sponsored by the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing of the University of Arkansas and the Pi Theta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the international nursing honorary society, and will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In her welcome statement, Barbara S. Conrad, director of the Mann School of Nursing, noted the research to be presented represents a "commitment to evidence-based practice and continued scholarship" in nursing.

"During times of nursing shortages and increasing financial pressures, we must find every possible way to support each other and to experience the best that nursing has to offer," Conrad said.

Keynote speaker for the conference is Joanne Rains Warner, Ph.D., RN, dean of nursing for Indiana University East in Richmond, Ind., who will speak on "Political Competence: Nurse Activists." Among presentations scheduled for the day are "Perceptions of the Role of the School Nurse" and "Child Care Health Consultant Training."
