Auto Safety Crusader To Speak At University Of Arkansas Law School

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Tab Turner, nationally renowned lawyer for the victims in Ford/Firestone rollover accidents, will give a lecture in the University of Arkansas School of Law courtroom, Thursday, March 28.

The lecture, "Ford/Firestone Rollovers: How Boardroom Decisions Turned into the Soccer Mom's Nightmare," will begin at 3 p.m., and the public is invited to attend.

Turner, a graduate of the UA Law School, was named Outstanding Trial Lawyer of the Year for 2001 by Trial Lawyers for Public Justice. He was featured last month on the Public Broadcasting Service program FRONTLINE and was previously featured in New York Times Magazine for his work on behalf of consumers in litigation involving sport utility vehicle rollovers.

He has negotiated settlements in over 120 Ford/Firestone-related cases for amounts totaling more than $500 million. He also helped successfully defend Consumer Reports magazine for its articles on stability and handling problems with the Isuzu Trooper and Suzuki Samurai, when those vehicle manufacturers sued the magazine for libel.
