Center to Host Business Forecast Breakfast

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Center for Business and Economic Research in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas is partnering with the Northwest Arkansas Chamber of Commerce to host the Quarterly Business Analysis on Thursday, Aug. 3. The breakfast event, open to the public, will be held from 6:45 to 7:50 a.m. at the Clarion Inn and Convention Center, 211 SE Walton Blvd., Bentonville.

Jeff Collins, director of the Center for Business and Economic Research, will present a 30-minute program that provides statistical highlights for the second quarter of 2006, key economic trends, and short- and long-term issues facing the local and state economy.

For example, growing imbalances between supply and demand in certain sectors of the real estate market have very real implications for builders, lenders and also consumers of various types of property. Recent changes to both supply and demand provide direct evidence of the magnitude of the imbalance and current responses by the market to address those imbalances. The question is not if a correction is taking place, but rather, how long will it last?

The primary purpose of the Quarterly Business Analysis program is to build networks of leaders from business, academic and governmental sectors in the region.

“The story remains job creation,” said Collins. “So long as jobs are created at a rapid pace, negative influences on growth in Northwest Arkansas will remain muted.”

The cost for the Quarterly Business Analysis program and breakfast is $15. Pre-registration by Friday, July 28, is required.
