DIRECTOR OF ANNUAL GIVING APPOINTED FOR UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Susan E. Neyman, of West Fork, has been appointed as the University of Arkansas’ director of Annual Giving, part of the Office of Development, effective Oct. 1, 2001.

The director of the Annual Giving plays an important role in developing new relationships with alumni and friends and nurturing the existing partnerships with current supporters of the University. Neyman will oversee the development and implementation of annual direct mail appeals and other special projects such as increasing membership to the Chancellor’s Society.

Neyman reports to Sandra K. Edwards, associate vice chancellor for development.

Edwards said, "Annual gifts serve as one of the most significant ways in which the University of Arkansas can remain nationally competitive as the funds provide immediate support to the colleges, schools and units. Susan’s experience as director of academic information will be valuable to us as we strengthen our current programs and develop new annual giving initiatives and opportunities."

Since 1955, the UA Annual Fund has been a vehicle for providing financial support to academic units and programs across the campus. The Annual Fund provides immediate funding for a broad range of projects and initiatives. It provides more than $1 million each year in support of colleges, schools and programs across campus. The Annual Fund is home to the National Phone Campaign, a team of UA students who call alumni and friends on behalf of the Annual Fund to raise money for the University.

Neyman earned her BSBA in administrative management from the Sam M. Walton College of Business in 1994. She went on to earn an MBA in 1995 and is currently a doctoral candidate in higher education administration in the UA College of Education and Health Professions.

She was previously the director of academic information services for the Walton College, a position she has held for the past six years.

Neyman said, "I am extremely excited about the opportunity to serve this campus in a capacity that will have a widespread and long-term impact in supporting the University of Arkansas mission."

In fiscal 2001, the Annual Fund received $1,369,083 million in private gift support from 10,260 contributors.
