DR. PRISCILLA GRIFFITH APPOINTED DEPARTMENT HEAD IN CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION

The College of Education & Health Professions is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Priscilla Griffith as Head of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. "We look forward to Dr. Griffith’s leadership in meeting our commitment to offer exemplary nationally accredited programs in curriculum and instruction," said Dean of the College Charles Stegman. "She will be an integral part of the life of the College."

Dr. Griffith received her Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Texas in 1987 and holds professional membership in many distinguished associations and honor societies. Her work has been published in many leading educational journals includingJournal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy, The Reading Teacher, Childhood Education, the Journal of Educational Psychology and the Journal of Research in Education. Dr. Griffith also serves as a journal editor for The Reading Teacher and is a consulting author for Addison Wesley’s Literacy 2000.

Before joining the University of Arkansas faculty, Dr. Griffith was an associate professor and the departmental co-chair of Childhood Education at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Dr. Griffith replaces Dr. Jack Helfeldt who has served as the head of Curriculum & Instruction for the past six years. She will assume her duties at the College beginning July 19, 1999.
