Five New Members Welcomed to Board of Advisors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas welcomed five new members to the Board of Advisors at a meeting held Friday, Oct 3. The Board of Advisors serves as the successor organization to the National Development Council and the Campaign for the Twenty-First Century Steering Committee, which headed the effort that raised more than $1 billion for the University of Arkansas. The board supports charitable, scientific and educational purposes related to the institution’s mission of teaching, research and service.

New members include:

  • T.J. Holmes (B.A., 1999) of Atlanta, Ga., weekend anchor for CNN News
  • Greg Lee (B.S.B.A., 1970) of Fayetteville, Ark., retired chief administrative officer and international president of Tyson Foods Inc.
  • Susan Harris Stoltz (B.A., 1974) of Fort Collins, Co.
  • Dick Trammel (B.S.B.A., 1960) of Rogers, Ark., executive vice president of Arvest Bank
  • John Tyson of Springdale, Ark., chairman of the board at Tyson Foods Inc.

“A university is only as strong as its leaders and advisers, and the Board of Advisors is critical to the future of our institution,” said Brad Choate, vice chancellor for University Advancement. “I am pleased to welcome the newest members to the board, and I look forward to working with them as well as the 78 other members in an effort to advance the University of Arkansas.”

In addition to reviewing the university’s ongoing and upcoming fundraising efforts, the meeting also featured a panel of students who addressed the board on their university experiences.

The Board of Advisors is chaired by Julian C. Stewart (B.S.C.E., 1957) of San Antonio, Texas, and Fayetteville. The Executive Committee is as follows: Boyce Billingsley of Bella Vista (B.S.B.A., 1955), Marilyn Bogle of Bentonville, Lewis Epley of Fayetteville (B.S.P.A., 1961, LL.D., 1961), Jim Faulkner of Little Rock (B.S.J., 1954), Johnelle Hunt of Fayetteville and Rogers, Buddy Sutton of Little Rock (B.S.B.A., 1953, LL.D., 1959), and Debbie Walker of Fayetteville.
