Since 1952, the International Association of Administrative Professionals has sponsored Administrative Professionals Week and Administrative Professionals Day becoming one of the largest workplace observances. These special dates are designed to call attention to the important workplace role of administrative professionals.

Recently, Gov. Mike Beebe, Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan, Springdale Mayor Doug Sprouse, Rogers Mayor Greg Hines and Bentonville Mayor Bob McCaslin signed proclamations designating April 24-30 as Administrative Professionals Week and April 27 as Administrative Professionals Day. The proclamations also recognize this year's annual administrative professional's week as "This Year Celebrate All Office Professionals" and the Administrative Professionals Day conference theme as "Passion and Purpose." These themes reflect how today's career-minded administrative professionals are advancing their careers and the profession as a whole through a commitment to their careers by improving and expanding their skills.

Administrative professionals are invited to join in celebration at this year's annual Administrative Professionals Day, April 27. The conference will be held at the Holiday Inn and Convention Center Northwest Arkansas in Springdale at a cost of $60 per attendee.

Speakers include Heather Nelson, vice president/senior relationship manager, Corporate Lending Group, Arkansas Region of U.S. Bank; Michele Australie, people director, Walmart; Mike Thompson, chief executive officer, SVI; and Cynthia Nance, dean, School of Law, University of Arkansas. A program on Wardrobe Accessorizing will be presented by Chico's during lunch. The conference will also include a vendor fair; you do not need to be a member of IAAP to attend.

To register, contact Sandy Hancock at 575-6021 or shancock@uark.edu or Debbie Blume at 530-1997 or dblume@uark.edu by Friday, April 15. Registration forms and additional information are also available at: www.iaapbentoncounty.com or www.iaap-razorback.org.
