Bumpers College Offers International Study Abroad in China

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences is offering an international study-abroad opportunity at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. The purpose of this study abroad, which is part of an exchange agreement, is to provide training in Chinese poultry production and processing practices, Mandarin language, and Chinese history and culture. Up to 10 students will be nominated. The study opportunity is from two to six months.

“Students interested in the global food production business would gain valuable knowledge and enhance their resume,” said Michael T, Kidd, head of the department of poultry science.

Bumpers College will assist the students in arranging suitable accommodations. Nominated students will be responsible for their own travel, books, transportation, passports, visas, health insurance and other personal expenses. Zhejiang University will provide on-campus room and board.

Undergraduate (junior and senior status) and graduate students nominated by Bumpers College will enroll as visiting non-degree students at Zhejiang University without a tuition charge and will register and enroll through the University of Arkansas. Students must have successfully completed at least one year of full-time study at the home university and have a strong academic record.

Applicants should submit a one-page statement of purpose and resume (including GPA) to M.T. Kidd at mkidd@uark.edu by Feb. 1. Interviews will be held in February and students will know their nomination status by the end of the month.
